Affiliate Products.

As regular visitors to Rome and residents of Italy, we know from experience about products and services which will be of use to other people visiting Italy, either as tourists or as foreign national residents.

So as part of providing value to people who visit this site, we like to recommend relevant products and services which we have tried and found to be of great quality, from companies of which we have personally had experience and trust in terms of their high quality products, cost-effective pricing, efficiency and personal service.

If for some reason we can't buy from a particular company - for example if the products are large and based outside Europe - we only recommend companies and products when we have evidence of excellent quality and good value for you.

This also applies to the hotels and restaurants featured on the site: we use only those in which we have ourselves stayed or eaten, or which friends and relatives have used when visiting Rome.

Our genuine belief is that using carefully chosen partners to provide some services will offer you a high quality experience when you visit Italy.

Strong partnerships provide exceptional value.

What is an affiliate scheme?

Some of those companies have an 'affiliate scheme' of which we are members. This means that when we recommend a product and provide a link to buy it, we receive a small commission whenever someone clicks through to the supplier and buys.

This does not involve any additional cost to you, the customer.

Not every company we like to use has an affiliate scheme so many of the products we sell we do not make money from - we simply recommend them because they're good quality and fit for purpose. If the product or service we are  recommending is an 'affiliate product', you will always find a statement nearby telling you that this is the case.

Where does the money go?

The money from affiliate sales helps us to keep the content on this website of a high quality, reliable, up to date and most importantly, generally free of charge. Some of it is put back into the site in the form of a small stock of products we personally buy, and sell from the site direct to you. This helps us make sure you are getting goods which are accurately described on the site and at as low a cost to you as possible.

It also helps us feed our family, dogs and chickens!

Companies with which we currently have an affiliate arrangement are as follows :

  • Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk
  • Booking.com
  • HomeAway
  • ItaliaRail
  • iTunes
  • Nonna Box
  • Terravision.com
  • Viator.com

Special statement about Amazon products.

Catherine Andrews and Michael James Andrews are participants in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com, or its other programs, such as endless.com or smallparts.com.
